CRIME: 187PC-Murder
VICTIM: Jay Espinosa 19 year old, San Bernardino Resident
SUSPECTS: Gabriel Cervantez 22 years old, Pomona Resident.
Marco Geary 23 year old, Pomona Resident.
UNIT: Investigative Services Division
NARRATIVE:
On September 23, 2018, at approximately 2AM, the victim was walking in the downtown area of Pomona when he and his companions were confronted by the suspects. During the altercation a rear passenger in the suspect vehicle exited and shot the victim striking him in his upper torso. The suspects fled in their vehicle, and the victim’s companions drove him to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. As the victim was being medically treated he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators were called in and conducted an exhaustive investigation, along with the Special Investigative Unit. During their investigation they were able to identify two suspects, one being the suspected shooter. Both suspects were eventually located and arrested. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and on October 3, 2018 they filed 187PC-Murder charges against both Gabriel Cervantez and Marco Geary.
