Incident: Suspicious Circumstance Death Investigation

Date/Time of Incident: Monday, December 25, 2017 @ 11:22 a.m.
Fremont detectives are investigating the suspicious death of an injured 47 year old female.
On December 25, 2017, at 11:22 a.m., the Fremont Police Department Dispatch Center received a call from a concerned community member regarding a woman who appeared to be injured. The caller stated the female had a visible head injury and appeared out of it. She was walking southbound on Fremont Blvd. from the area of Thornton Ave. Officers responded to the area and located the woman being treated for a serious head injury by Fremont Fire at the Centerville Train Depot. She was transported via ambulance to a trauma center. Officers canvassed the area and spoke to several people living in nearby homeless encampments attempting to gather further information from potential witnesses.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office called to advise the woman had passed away at the hospital. Medical personnel provided officers with additional information about the injury, which was described as head trauma. Medical personnel were not able to determine the cause of the trauma.
Due to the suspicious circumstances of her death, the Crimes Against Persons Unit took over the investigation. Detectives have continued their follow up over the last several days interviewing and re-interviewing people who knew the female. Detectives are jointly working with the Alameda County Coroner to further investigate the case and determine the cause of death. The investigation remains open and continues to be classified as a suspicious circumstance case.
Next of kin has not been located and the female’s name is not being released at this time. The decedent was a 47 year old Fremont transient.
