38 year old man arrested for sexual assault. Detectives seeking the public's help for information.

Fremont Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance for any information connected to a 38 year old Hayward man who was arrested for sexual assault.

On June 3, 2017, the Fremont Police Department was contacted by Hayward Police regarding a sexual assault that was believed to have occurred in the City of Fremont.  Officers interviewed an adult female victim and learned she had met the suspect at a restaurant in Pleasanton during the evening of June 2, 2017.  The suspect offered a ride to the victim and she accepted.  The suspect told her he would take her home, but that he first needed to make a job-related stop at a residence in Fremont.  They went to the address in Fremont and then from there, the suspect drove the victim to an unknown location a short distance away.  At that location, the suspect locked the doors; pistol whipped and sexually assaulted the victim.  The suspect then drove the victim to the City of Hayward and had her get out of the vehicle.   The victim immediately contacted the Hayward Police Department.

While the victim did not know her assailant, she was able to give officers enough information which allowed detectives to begin investigating the case.  Detectives were able to locate surveillance which led them to identifying Jaime Agront (38, Hayward) as a person of interest.   Upon identifying Agront, officers learned Hayward Police were also investigating a similar case from 2015 where Agront was the suspect.

On June 25, 2017, the Fremont Police Special Investigative Unit and Crimes Against Persons Unit located Agront and arrested him pursuant to Hayward Police Department’s Ramey warrant.  Agront was booked into the Fremont Jail on four separate sexual assault charges and one count of kidnapping.  After reviewing our case, the Alameda County District Attorney amended charges for Agront to be included on Hayward's docket.

Detectives are not ruling out the possibility of more victims.  Anyone with information about Agront and/or this case is asked to please contact Detective A. Holguin at [email protected] or call 510-790-6900.  We will also accept anonymous tips.  Please follow the link below or text ‘Tip FremontPD’ followed by the message to 888-777.
