UPDATE 1/11/2017 5:00pm:

  • Teton County Sheriff's Office lifts No Unnecessary Travel on County roads, but urges extreme caution while driving.
Winter Storm Update 1/11/2017 4:30pm:
  • N Highway 89 between Moose and Moran remains CLOSED at this time.  Opening information will be posted to the WYDOT website (www.wyoroad.info).
  • S Highway 89 Snake River Canyon between Hoback and Alpine has just CLOSED due to an avalanche.  WYDOT estimates it will not open until after 7:00pm  (www.wyoroad.info).
  • Star Valley commuter START bus lines are impacted by the Snake River Canyon closure.  Commuters impacted by this can call START Bus at 733-4521 extension 1 to get more information. (www.startbus.com)
  • Teton County Sheriff's Office still has No Unnecessary Travel advisory in place for County roads.  Recreational or leisure travel is not advised due to extreme winter driving conditions in several places in the County.
  • National Elk Refuge has asked the public to limit travel on the Elk Refuge road to residents and administrative staff.  Sections of the road are only one lane at this time.
  • Winter Storm Warning is still in effect through 11:00pm this evening (www.weather.gov/riw).
  • Avalanche Warnings are in effect through 5:00pm tomorrow (www.jhavalanche.org).
Local emergency services would like to thank the community for their patience and their effort to keep everyone safe by limiting travel.  Those that are out traveling are reminded to take it slow, give everyone plenty of space, and be especially watchful for wildlife.
