WINTER HAS ARRIVED IN TETON COUNTY

Road closures, winter driving conditions, and colder weather arrived in force today in Teton County.  This is an annual reminder of several items for Nixle subscribers as we move into the winter season:

  • You can manage which type (Community, Advisory, and Alert) of Nixle messages you receive, and even set "quiet times" where you won't receive notifications.  Visit www.nixle.com and log in as a Resident to adjust your settings.
  • If you would like to receive automated SMS weather alerts from the National Weather Service via Nixle for Teton County, WY, text TETONWX to 888777.
  • The source for road condition and closure information for State and Federal highways in Teton County, including Highway 22 (Teton Pass), S Highway 89 (Snake River Canyon), S Highway 191 (Hoback Canyon), Highway 26 (Togwotee Pass), and N Highway 89 (Grand Teton National Park) is the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT).  Visit http://wyoroad.info/ or dial 5-1-1 for the latest road information on State/Federal highways.  Only call 9-1-1 and dispatch centers with emergencies; they do not have road condition information for the public.
  • Teton County Emergency Management will only send Nixle messages on State/Federal highway closures due to extreme circumstances, involvement of local first responders in highway emergencies, or if WYDOT's primary messaging system (5-1-1 Notify) is inoperable.  If you want to receive up-to-the-minute highway information, subscribe to WYDOT's 5-1-1 Notify SMS/email notification service at http://wyoroad.info/511/511NotifyAnnouncement.html

See the attachments to this email/webpage for more winter preparedness resources.

If you find the Nixle service useful, tell friends and family to sign up by visiting www.nixle.com or texting TETON_WY to 888777.
