On Saturday (April 23, 2016) evening at approximately 11:20 p.m., Fremont officers responded to a call of a pedestrian down in the roadway near the intersection of Fremont Blvd. and Thornton Ave. Officers arrived on scene and found citizens performing CPR on an unresponsive 52 year old female (Fremont resident). The female was transported to a trauma center where she was pronounced deceased.
Witnesses told officers an SUV type vehicle may have struck the female, who was walking in the #2 lane of traffic in the northbound lanes of Fremont Blvd. The driver of the SUV did not stop and fled the scene. Officers were able to recover video from a local business during the early hours of the investigation that has assisted with a description of the involved vehicle. The vehicle is believed to be a 2007-2016 light colored 2-door Jeep Wrangler with a black top, lift and large tires. The vehicle has damage to the front passenger side fender.
