Club Way Residence Burglarized / Residents are asked to be alert for suspicious activity
Police are investigating a burglary that occurred yesterday, Thursday, November 12th. on Club Way. The resident arrived home at 7:30 p.m. and discovered his front door had been forced open and the suspects had ransacked several rooms. A number of items were stolen including jewelry and coins. The detective bureau processed the scene for physical evidence and is conducting a follow-up investigation. Any person that may have observed suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact police at 973-239-4100.
Residents are asked to be alert for and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. Examples of things to look out for are:
* A stranger entering your neighbor's house when they are not home.
* Open or broken doors or windows at a neighbor's home
* The sound of breaking glass or other loud noises
* Strangers walking on a neighbor's property
* Strangers observed loading a vehicle with televisions, computers or other valuables
* Unknown parked or occupied vehicles idling at curb without an apparent purpose
* Unknown vehicles moving slowly through the neighborhood or circling the block repeatedly
Please be sure to secure all windows and doors when going out and be sure to activate home security systems when leaving. With the early sunsets, please leave lights on both inside and outside the home.
