Reward offered for information leading to arrest of person who made bomb threat to Barrow Elementary School

At approximately 10:00 AM today, administrators at Barrow Elementary School received a pre-recorded message referencing a bomb threat at their school. School administrators immediately placed the campus on hard lockdown, restricting movement inside and outside of the school and called police. Within minutes, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and the Clarke County School District Police Department arrived and conducted a full sweep of the Barrow property. The University of Georgia Police Department also responded and provided special assistance. The Athens-Clarke County Fire Department and EMS were alerted and staged to respond. After a thorough search of the entire campus was conducted, it was determined that there was no danger to persons or school property. An "all clear" was announced by school administrators and the school resumed normal inside activities. The school remained on soft lockdown for the remainder of the school day.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is now conducting a criminal investigation into the incident.
