Man shot in apartment, ex-girlfriend arrested.

VICTIM: Jeffrey Goytia (32 years, Pomona resident)
SUSPECT: Jerica Caballes (22 years, La Mirada resident)

NARRATIVE:
At approximately 2350 hours, officers responded to a shots fired call at 1512 W. Mission Blvd. where, upon arrival, they found the victim, Jeffrey Goytia (32 yrs old) with a gunshot wound to the face. Goytia was treated at the scene and then airlifted to an area hospital; his wound was serious but did not appear to be life threatening.
Officers learned from Goytia that the suspect in the shooting was his ex-girlfriend whom he had recently broken up with. He said that although they were broken up, he and the suspect had been arguing during the day prior to the shooting.
PPD officers requested the assistance of the LA County Sheriff's department to check the area of the suspect's address in La Mirada. At approximately 0130 hours, LASD deputies located the suspect in her vehicle near her residence and she was subsequently detained without incident. Pomona officers responded to that location and took custody of the suspect and subsequently booked her in the Pomona jail in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
The exact motive in the case is not yet known, however, the investigation is on-going.
