Date of Incident: April 9, 2014

Location: 40820 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, Ca

Report FPD# 140409002

On April 9, 2014, at approximately 1:15 a.m., a victim (a 67 y/o retired US Marine) was robbed at gunpoint while using the Bank of America ATM at 40820 Fremont Blvd.

The robbery occurred when a carload of suspects drove up to the ATM and suspect Prabhleen Singh (22 yrs./Fremont) exited the vehicle, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his wallet. The victim, fearing for his life, threw his wallet to Singh.  Singh retrieved the wallet and got back in the vehicle, driven by suspect Manjot Dhillon (24 yrs./Union City), which then fled the area. Approximately one hour later Singh and an identified juvenile suspect male used the victim’s credit cards at the 7-eleven located in the Warm Springs area of Fremont.

The Fremont Police Department’s Crimes Against Person(s) Unit actively investigated the robbery.  Their efforts included the release of surveillance photos to the public in an effort to identify the suspects.  Through those surveillance photos, physical evidence, witness statements and other evidence, Prabhleen Singh and Manjot Dhillon were identified as suspects in the armed robbery.

On April 16, 2014, Dhillon and Singh were arrested in Union City and a search warrant was served at Dhillon’s residence where evidence from the crime was located.  The vehicle used during the robbery was also located at the residence.  Singh and Dhillon were booked into the Fremont Jail.

On April 18, 2014, both suspects were charged with a variety of felony charges including: robbery, elder abuse, possession of stolen property and felon in possession of ammunition.

On October 28, 2014, both suspects pled ‘no contest’ to one felony count of robbery.  Both are set for sentencing on the case in early January 2015.
