The Fremont Police Traffic Unit will be hosting a community education and outreach event at Central Park this Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
This Saturday, the public is invited to stop by Central Park and talk to members of the Police Department’s Traffic Unit, who will be teaming up with VIPS Volunteers and Park Rangers, in an effort to engage in conversations related to roadway safety. Staff will be handing out literature designed to specifically educate adults and children (of all ages), on bicycle, pedestrian and vehicular safety. The Police Department’s booth will be located in the grass area near the entrance to Central Park at Paseo Padre Parkway and Baylis Street (near the Skate and Water Park) on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Many members of our community have personally experienced the loss and tragedy associated with injury traffic collisions. Traffic safety and the reduction of injury collisions is a top area of emphasis for the organization. The Police Department’s Traffic Unit has studied this issue carefully and has identified a comprehensive strategy of education, enforcement and engineering to impact the initiative. The approach includes a strong partnership with the Fremont Unified School District, Transportation Engineering, Street Maintenance, Fremont Fire and CHP in an effort to advance ideas and solutions focused at improving safety in our community. This weekend’s event is just one of several we have planned for the upcoming year.
