Advisory

BOIL WATER ADVISORY

The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County has issued an alert for its customers in communities north of Route 30 to boil water before drinking it.

Hempfield Township has NOT been specifically been mentioned in the postings on the local media, BUT a portion of Hempfield Township is above Route 30 and is serviced by the MAWC's Treatment Plant in Bell Township, which is the affected plant.

THEREFORE, the Hempfield Township Emergency Management Agency recommends all persons north of Route 30 to boil their water before consuming.

Follow these steps:

• Bring all water to a boil.
• Let it boil for one minute.
• Let it cool before using.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

If we find out Hempfield Township is not affected, or the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted, we will post those updates on the HEMA Facebook site @ https://www.facebook.com/HempfieldEMA.
