How to Prevent Vehicle Burglaries

Vehicle burglary is a common crime that happens in big cities, small towns and rural areas. A vehicle burglary is when a person illegally enters a vehicle he does not own with the intent
to commit another crime, usually theft.

Vehicle Burglary is most often a crime of opportunity. Our own carelessness is often causing our vehicles to be broken into; however, you can minimize your chances of being a victim by taking away the opportunity. Here are some tips to prevent the crime from happening to you:

1. Lock your vehicles and take the keys.
2. Park carefully in well lighted areas.
3. Use anti-theft devices.
4. Utilize your garage to park in.
5. Remove all valuables (GPS’s, Cell Phones, Laptops,
Wallets, Tools, Purses/Briefcases, Cd’s, money; etc.)
6. Call 911 to report any suspicious activity.

Remember, there is no 100% fool-proof way to prevent all crime. You can make yourself less likely to be a victim by following the above tips and using common sense.
