Police Issue Advisory After Occupied Stolen Vehicle Observed Early This Morning
On Thursday, February 14th. at 5:20 a.m., Ptl. Robert McDermott observed a suspicious vehicle stopped in the middle of Bowden Road with its headlights out. As the officer stopped to investigate conditions, the vehicle, a white 2001 Audi A8, pulled away from the officer refusing to stop. The officer, with the assistance of Ptl. Dominick Buscio, continued attempts to stop the vehicle as the Audi travelled through several streets before making its way to Bloomfield Avenue in Verona. Due to road conditions and the excessive speed of the Audi, the officers discontinued attempts to stop the car for reasons of public safety. It was subsequently discovered that the Audi, which was occupied by three black males, had been stolen on February 4, 2013 in Paramus. A check of the area where the Audi was first observed was made for evidence of a crime with negative results. * Residents are reminded to lock and alarm their vehicles when unattended. Valuables should always be secured and running vehicles should never be left unattended.
