On May 3rd, a brush fire burned dangerously close to 50 homes east of Santee Lakes. Wildfire season is almost here and The Sheriff's Department wants you to be ready. The Sheriff's Ramona Substation is holding a public forum about wildfire evacuation on Monday, May 16th at the Ramona Library 1275 Main Street at 2:00 p.m. Lt. Julie Sutton will discuss improvements on the reverse 911 system. Various county, fire, utility, public and private agencies will also attend the public meeting.
