Janesville teen held on Terrorist Threats charge after School Threat at Marshall Middle School.
On 3/15/2023 at approximately 8:30 AM the School Resource Officer assigned to Marshall Middle School was notified by School Administration of a school threat made by a fourteen-year-old 8th-grade student of the school. The School Resource Officer and School Administration worked cooperatively to locate and isolate the student from their fellow students. The student’s person, backpack, and locker were searched by School Administration and no weapons were discovered.
During the investigation, officers spoke with a number of witnesses who had alerted the School Administration of their knowledge of the school threat.
A search warrant was obtained for the student’s residence, and executed shortly after 2:00 PM. As a result of the search warrant four firearms and miscellaneous computerized devices were removed from the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
The student was detained at the Rock County Youth Services Center on the charge of Terrorist Threats (947.019).
The successful outcome of this investigation would not have been possible without witnesses reporting the concerning behavior to School Administration.
