On 02/20/2023 at approximately 12:25 PM, several Officers responded to the Simi Hills Golf Course at 5031 Alamo Street in reference to a radio call of a carjacking in progress. The Suspect was reported fleeing westbound into the wash. The Suspect (later identified as Los Angeles resident Julio Silva 21years old) was located and detained by responding Officers. The investigation revealed Suspect-Silva began placing his personal items into the truck bed of the Male Adult Victim's truck. The Victim (a 63 years old Simi Valley resident) was at the location fishing. Suspect-Silva then began reaching into the open door of the truck, when he was confronted by the Victim. Upon being confronted, Suspect-Silva punched the Victim in the face, knocking him unconscious. The Victim was treated by the Ventura County Fire Department as well as AMR and later transported to the Simi Valley Hospital. Suspect-Silva was positively identified and arrested. He was subsequently booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for 243(d)-PC-Felony Battery. The Simi Valley Police Department would like to thank the community members that reported this crime in progress as well as providing the direction the Suspect fled. This was a true example of the partnership we have with our community.
