LOCATION: 40000 Block of Forest Rd, Big Bear Lake
SUSPECT(S): Steve Franks, 62-year-old resident of Big Bear Lake
VICTIM(S): People of the State of California
SUMMARY: On January 23, 2023, deputies assigned to the Big Bear Station's Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) along with detectives, served a search warrant in the 40000 block of Forest Road, in Big Bear Lake.
Steve Franks, a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a non-serialized handgun, commonly referred to as a "Ghost" gun, live ammunition, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia. Franks is prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammunition as a result of a prior felony conviction.
Franks was booked into custody at the Big Bear Jail and was later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center. Franks is currently being held on $30,000 bail. Franks is scheduled to appear on, January 30, 2023, in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
