UPDATE
Sheriff's Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a male Hispanic adult. The incident occurred on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at approximately 1146 hours.
South Gate PD Officers responded to the intersection of State Street and Illinois Avenue, South Gate, regarding a call of gunshots in the area. Upon arriving, they discovered the victim lying on the street, unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
There is no suspect information.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives responded to assist South Gate Police Department with a shooting death investigation.
South Gate PD Officers responded to the 9400 block of State Street., in the city of South Gate at approximately 11:46 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2023, regarding a shots fired/gunshot victim call for service.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the victim, a male adult, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is currently on-going and there is no additional information available at this time.
