INCIDENT: PC 664/187 - Attempted Murder
LOCATION: The Bar & Grill, 34536 Yucaipa Boulevard, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Vanessa Cortez, 28-years-old, Resident of San Bernardino
VICTIM(S): Male Adult, 39-years-old, Resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Thursday, December 8, 2022, deputies from the Yucaipa Sheriff's Station responded to a stabbing call at The Bar & Grill in Yucaipa. As deputies arrived on scene, the victim was being transported to Loma Linda Medical University Hospital with a stab wound to his stomach.
On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, through investigation, the suspect was identified as Vanessa Cortez. Investigators determined Cortez stabbed the victim while he was defending himself from another involved party during an altercation.
Cortez is currently on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. Cortezwas located and placed under arrest for attempted murder, and is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
