Newark, California (Sunday, November 20, 2022)  

On Saturday, November 19, 2022 at approximately 7:29 p.m., Newark Police received a report of gunfire in the 37000 block of Oak St. Officers quickly responded and arrived at the location at approximately three minutes from the time of the call. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male suffering from possible stab wounds. Emergency personnel immediately rendered aid but unfortunately the subject succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the subject is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  
 
A secondary person, a 42-year-old male resident of Newark, was transported to a local area hospital for significant injuries sustained but is in stable condition. 
 
Detectives were called out to assume the investigation and have been actively working to identify involved parties.  
 
Newark Police will be continuing their efforts and handling this case as a homicide investigation.
