SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 30, 2022, at approximately 2:40 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to the 20000 block of Zuni Road for a robbery report.

Upon arrival, deputies learned the victims were at the location to sell two pairs of Nike Jordan shoes to a buyer from OfferUp. When they arrived, two male juveniles approached them and began to look at the shoes. One of the juveniles grabbed a pair of shoes and ran away. The other pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the 13-year-old victim, and demanded the second pair of shoes before fleeing. The 41-year-old victim chased the suspects and was robbed of his shoes at gunpoint.

A short time later, the 17-year-old juvenile suspect was located at a local hospital after shooting himself. Through investigation, the two additional suspects were identified.

With assistance from the San Bernardino County Specialized Enforcement Division, Apple Valley deputies served search warrants in the 15000 block of Tonekai Road and the 15000 block of Sago Road in the Town of Apple Valley. During the search, the 13-year-old and 15-year-old male suspects were taken into custody. Investigators recovered the stolen shoes and several counterfeit $100 bills. The suspects have been linked to three additional armed robberies reported in the last week. No additional information is available.

All three suspects were booked at High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center for armed robbery.
