IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Quick Arrest in Friday Murder Investigation
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested 24-year-old Milton Porter for his alleged involvement in a recent homicide.
On Friday, October 14, 2022, just after 9:00 pm, IMPD Southeast District officers responded to the 4500 block of E. Washington Street on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital. Shortly after arriving at the hospital the victim was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner's Office will assisted and determined the exact manner and cause of death.
IMPD homicide detectives continued their investigation and identified the alleged suspect. With the assistance of IMPD Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) on Monday, October 17, 2022, IMPD homicide detectives announced the arrest of 24-year-old Milton Porter for his alleged involvement in the death of 32-year-old Calvin Lawson Jr. Porter was charged with Murder.
The MCPO will make the final charging decision.
