Incident Summary
 
On Saturday, October 15, 2022, at approximately 09:05am, personnel from the Petaluma Police Department and Petaluma Fire Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of Schuman Lane for a reported traffic collision into a residence. Officers arrived on scene and found a blue Honda Civic that had collided into a residence. The collision caused significant damage to the residence. Officers contacted the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, later identified as David Kaminski. It was determined Kaminski accelerated from a parked position on Schuman Lane, crossed the roadway for an unknown reason and collided with the curb.  Kaminski’s vehicle traveled over 2 retaining walls and came to rest into the downstairs wall of a residence. Kaminski displayed objective signs of alcohol impairment. Kaminski was placed under arrest for DUI.
 
The Petaluma Police Department has been committed to increasing traffic safety and especially reducing the number of alcohol-related collisions. Petaluma Police advise motorist to plan ahead if you’re going to go out and drink alcohol, designate a sober driver or share a ride.  Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
