| Narrative: |
The human remains of a missing person were located in the Santa Monica Mountains within the County of Los Angeles.
On 10/03/2022, hikers were hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains within Los Angeles County, when they came across a set of human remains. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate.
On 10/07/2022, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the human remains as those of missing person Jose Velasquez. Velasquez was reported missing to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office on 07/30/2022, after he disappeared under suspicious circumstances. The cause of death is under investigation and pending autopsy results from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
