INCIDENT: Assault with a Firearm, Exhibiting a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm in a Public Place
LOCATION: 14999 Dale Evans Pkwy., Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): 1) Jovan DeLao, a 22-year-old male resident of Victorville
2) Joel DeLao, a 21-year-old male resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): 1) 21-year-old male resident of Apple Valley
2) 22-year-old male resident of Adelanto
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 3:58 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to Civic Center Park, for a report of a subject brandishing a firearm.
According to the reporting party, several subjects were arguing amongst themselves. The suspect, later identified as Jovan DeLao, brandished a firearm and told the victims he wanted to see them fight. When the victims declined, Jovan pointed a gun at them and threatened them.
Deputies arrived on scene and located Jovan, sleeping in the playground near a loaded gun. Joel DeLao was also found on the playground, near another loaded gun.
Jovan was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a firearm, exhibiting a firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. Joel was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. Both Jovan and Joel posted bail bond in the amount of $25,000.
