Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 33 year old Hispanic man in unincorporated Los Angeles.
Deputies from South Los Angeles Station responded to a home on the 1200 block of West 99th Street at 9:29 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022 regarding a gunshot victim call. Upon arriving they discovered the victim lying unresponsive in the street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators learned the victim was standing near a parked car at the location when a light colored mid-sized sport utility vehicle stopped near him. Unknown persons inside the vehicle opened fire, striking the victim. The suspect vehicle and it’s occupants sped away westbound 99th street out of view.
The murder weapon remains outstanding. This shooting does not appear to be gang related.
