INCIDENT: Felon in Possession of Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property
LOCATION: 6th Street and Tippecanoe Avenue, San Bernardino
SUSPECT(S): Carlos Carachuri, 29-year-old resident of San Bernardino
Victoria Cervantez 28-year-old resident of San Bernardino
VICTIM(S): STATE OF CALIFORNIA/CONFIDENTIAL
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, Deputy T. Underhill observed a 2014 Chrysler 300 at the intersection of Del Rosa Avenue and Baseline Street.
A records check of the vehicle showed it was reported stolen out of Fontana. Deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop of the vehicle and took the driver, Carlos Carachuri and passenger Victoria Cervantez, into custody without incident.
During a search of the vehicle, a loaded unserialized 9mm handgun, or "ghost gun" was located along with three catalytic converters, a Sawzall with extra blades, and tools commonly used for catalytic converter theft.
Both Carachuri and Cervantez are convicted felons and prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. Cervantes had an active felony warrant for her arrest. Carachuri was arrested for Penal Code 496D(A)-Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Penal Code 29800(A)(1)-Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Penal Code 496(A)-Possession of Stolen Property, Penal Code 30305(A)(1)-Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Penal Code 25850(C)(6)-Carry Unregistered Firearm. Cervantez was arrested for her outstanding warrant. Both subjects were booked into the Central Detention Center.
