Parker Man Drowns at Skiers Cove Over the Weekend

LOCATION: Skiers Cove on Lake Havasu
VICTIM(S): Samuel J. Wipf, 35 Years of Age, Resident of Parker, AZ
SUMMARY: On August 28, 2022, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Colorado River Station-Marine Enforcement deputies responded to a report of a drowning in Skiers Cove on Lake Havasu. According to witness statements, the victim was swimming with friends at the rear of a floating vessel. The victim began struggling in the water for an unknown reason, went under the water, and never resurfaced.
San Bernardino County Sheriff divers along with Mohave County Sheriff and Lake Havasu City Police divers conducted a series of rescue dives and sonar scans to find the victim. A helicopter from Native Air was also on scene to conduct aerial searches. At approximately 8:25 p.m., Wipf was located using Mohave County Sheriff's towable side scan sonar and was recovered by San Bernardino County Sheriff's divers. Wipf was turned over to the care of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Coroner Division.
