INCIDENT: Major Injury Boat Collision
LOCATION: Bass Point, Big River, CA
SUSPECT(S): David Smisek, 67-Years-Old, Resident of Fallbrook, CA
VICTIM(S): 58-Year-Old Female, Resident of Fallbrook, CA
SUMMARY: On Saturday, July 30, 2022, at approximately 8:26 p.m., Marine Enforcement deputies responded to a report of a boat collision involving major injuries near Bass Point, just south of Emerald Cove, on the Colorado River. The vessel operator, identified as Davis Smisek, and his passengers were traveling south on the Colorado river when the vessel struck the California shoreline. The collision caused the boat to roll and eject four of the passengers. One female passenger sustained major injuries and was flown to a local hospital for treatment. Smisek sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Through investigation, deputies found alcohol to be a contributing factor to the collision.
