Boat Fire at Sandy Beach, Lake Havasu Causes Vegetation Fire

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Marine Enforcement Unit responded to the report of a boat fire at Sandy Beach on Lake Havasu. Mohave County Sheriff's Office, San Bernardino County Fire Department, and Lake Havasu City Fire Department also responded to the location.
The boat fire quickly spread to brush on shore, starting a large vegetation fire. San Bernardino County Fire sprayed water on the fire from their boat and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Helicopter dumped water on the fire from above. Through combined efforts, the fire was extinguished without further incident and there were no reported injuries from this incident. The ignition source of the boat fire is unknown.
