Incident Summary
 
On July 10th, at approximately 1:49 AM, officers from the Petaluma Police Department responded to the 100 block of Keller Street regarding an assault victim with injuries. The victim was reportedly struck by a baseball and unconscious.  When officers arrived, they found the victim Adolfo Martinez Pena (23-year-old, Novato resident) lying in the roadway suffering from what appeared to be multiple puncture wounds. Officers attempted life saving measures including CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Unfortunately, Adolfo Martinez Pena succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, Petaluma Police Detectives identified Alejandro G. Sanchez in connection to the July 10th fatal stabbing of Adolfo Martinez Pena. Detectives located Alejandro G. Sanchez in the city of San Pablo where he was arrested and taken into custody by officers of the San Pablo Police Department without incident.  Alejandro G. Sanchez was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for murder and weapons charges.
 
Detectives also arrested Alejandro’s twin brother, Luis Sanchez for committing an assault with a deadly weapon during the above-mentioned altercation. Luis Sanchez was booked into Sonoma County Jail.
 
The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank our Law Enforcement partners at the San Pablo Police Department, the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, our community, and the downtown business community for their assistance in this investigation.
