INCIDENT: CCW Holder Information Released by CA DOJ
SUMMARY: The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is aware of the release of Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit holders’ information by the California Department of Justice (CalDOJ), as reported in the Los Angeles Times https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-06-28/data-breach-affects-all-california-concealed-carry-permit-holders
The CalDOJ’s 2022 Firearms Dashboard Portal was announced in a press release on Monday, June 27, 2022, and has since been disabled. The Sheriff’s Department does not known how long this portal was active and available to the public. We encourage those with a CCW permit to monitor your accounts for any unauthorized activity.
Though we had no control over the release of information, the Sheriff’s Department understands the concerns of our CCW holders regarding their privacy and risks associated with the release of this information. We encourage our CCW holders or anyone with questions or concerns to contact CalDOJ https://oag.ca.gov/contact
