Mountain Lion Sighting 
UPDATE: The school lockdown lifted and the lion was not located.
On June 2, 2022, at about 1:30 pm an approximate 110-pound mountain lion was seen in the 300 block of Royal Avenue. Simi Valley Police responded to the area and conducted a search during which the lion was seen moving west in the 1300 block of Carmel Drive, near Capri Drive. Due to the proximity of Madera Elementary School (250 Royal Avenue), a school lockdown has been initiated. A limited number of students are being impacted, due to a school minimum day. Simi Police are still in the area attempting to locate the lion and will release the school lockdown as soon as possible.
