TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FOUR ARRESTED FOR NARCOTICS AND GUN VIOLATIONS-SRPD CASE #22-4752
On April 28th, 2022, at about 11:00 p.m., a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop for illegal window tint in the area of State Farm Drive and Cleveland Avenue. As the officer was pulling the vehicle over, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old, Ignacio Navarrete from Sacramento, California. Due to the strong, freshly burnt odor of marijuana, the officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle. The four occupants of the vehicle were asked to step out of the car so the officer could conduct his search. The other three occupants were identified as 27-year-old Tanea Ammons, 29-year-old Benjamin Truong of Sacramento and 21-year-old Sequoia Corrales of Sacramento. Other officers arrived on scene to assist with the traffic stop.
As officers searched the vehicle, they located, what appeared to be a hand rolled marijuana cigar in the ashtray and a backpack with over four ounces of methamphetamine. The officers also located a digital scale, Ziplock bags, and over 2 grams of suspected fentanyl inside the vehicle. Additionally, a taser and a stolen Glock .40 caliber handgun with a 15 round magazine were located along with another eight ounces of methamphetamine. (The firearm was stolen out of Stockton, California) Based on the various locations within the vehicle the items were located, all four occupants were detained. Additional probable cause was developed after the search of the interior of the vehicle, so officers then searched the trunk of the vehicle. Officers located suitcases and duffle bags with over three pounds of marijuana inside the trunk.
All four occupants of the vehicle were later transported and booked at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for the following felony charges:
