Police Investigate Hate Incident in Corte Madera

Larkspur, Ca – April 27, 2022. Central Marin Police are investigating a hate incident that occurred last week in Corte Madera.

On Friday, April 22, 2022, a woman was at the Corte Madera Town Center and saw a man putting flyers on cars in the parking lot.  The flyers contained anti-Semitic and anti-vaccination language.  She confronted the male subject and he told her that he had a right to free speech.  The woman then left the area.

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, the woman called the Central Marin Police to report the incident and provide photographs of the flyers.  She was able to give a description of the man, but at this point investigators have been unsuccessful in identifying him.

Chief Michael Norton said, “Hate speech in any form is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the communities we serve. The Central Marin Police Authority takes all reports of hate speech, hate incidents, and hate crimes very seriously and will request prosecution of all applicable crimes.”

Corte Madera Mayor Fred Cassisa said, “The Town of Corte Madera condemns this incident as hateful expressions of intolerance that are contradictory to the values of our community.  Incidents such as these, in any form, cannot and will not be tolerated; and, will be taken seriously."

If you witnessed the flyer distribution at Corte Madera Town Center on Friday, April 22nd and can identify the subject or his vehicle, please contact Detective Charlene Cunningham at 415.927.5150
