Driver Arrested Following Crash into Business Storefront
On 4/14/22 at approximately 1:30 AM, Santa Rosa Police Department Dispatch received a call of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. The caller reported a male was trapped in the vehicle. Medical resources were immediately dispatched along with law enforcement.
Officers along with medical personnel arrived at the business, located at 140 Stony Point Road (Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii). Santa Rosa Fire personnel utilized hydraulic tools to extract the sole occupant. The driver was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
Officers determined based on evidence, the driver was headed WB on West 9th Street at a high rate of speed. The driver did not navigate a curve in the road and drove over a grass berm on the north side of West 9th Street. The driver continued through the parking lot of 140 Stony Point Road, at which point the vehicle struck a tree causing the vehicle to spin and crash into the glass storefront. The collision caused major damage to the vehicle and the storefront.
The driver was identified as, Ronal Chuc Comez, a twenty-one-year-old Santa Rosa Resident.
Based on the investigation, Chuc Comez was arrested for the following charge.
