Motorcyclist Dies in Collision on Bicentennial Way near Mendocino Avenue

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 12:06 PM, Santa Rosa Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Bicentennial Way and Mendocino Av regarding a motorcyclist the collided with a light pole.  Based on the severity of the call, SRPD Communications Dispatchers also sent the Santa Rosa Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services.  When officers arrived on scene, the located an adult male lying in the roadway, near an early 90’s Harley Davidson motorcycle.  The adult male was in his mid-50’s had sustained life-threatening injuries.  The motorcyclist was immediately transported to a local hospital, but was pronounced deceased a short time later.  Identity of the motorcyclist is pending notification of his family.

SRPD Accident Investigators took over the investigation and Field & Evidence Technicians processed the scene. Officers learned that dozens of motorcyclists were in the area for an unknown event or ride. The group was driving northbound Mendocino Av and turned eastbound onto Bicentennial Way. Approximately 200 yards east of Mendocino Av, the driver of the 90’s Harley Davidson Motorcycle lost control and crashed into a light pole, on the south side of the roadway. Accident investigators believe there may have been another motorcycle involved in this collision, but that driver did not stay on scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the deceased motorcyclists driving.

SRPD Accident Investigators need to speak with the other motorcyclist who was possibly involved in this collision. The second motorcycle and driver were described as:

Motorcycle: 90’s Enduro motorcycle with a yellow gas tank and white front fender. The Enduro possibly had a faded blue rear fender.

***The below photo of an Enduro motorcycle is only a similar type, it is not the exact motorcycle from this incident***

Driver: White male adult, medium to husky build, wearing a brown camouflage shirt, light tan vest, backward hat, and a black helmet with a silver design on it.
