Narrative: | |||||
On March 18, 2022, at approximately 4:25 AM, Thousand Oaks Patrol Deputies responded to the area of the Janss Marketplace parking structure located near 275 N. Moorpark Rd. in Thousand Oaks for a report of an attempted rape. Upon arrival, they contacted the elderly female victim and a passerby that had come to her aid. The victim was interviewed and disclosed she had been walking alone in the area of the parking structure when she was confronted by the unknown Hispanic male suspect and asked for money. She told the suspect she had no money to give him and continued walking away when the suspect physically assaulted her knocking her to the ground where he attempted to commit rape. The victim was able to fight the suspect off and flee the scene. Deputies searched the immediate area and were unable to locate the suspect at that time. At approximately 11:45 AM, Sexual Assault Unit detectives received information that a subject, Alexis Armando Cruz, entered the public lobby of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s / Lost Hills Station and made statements to deputies that he had been in Thousand Oaks earlier that morning and attempted to sexually assault a woman. Cruz was taken into custody by Thousand Oaks patrol deputies and further investigation led to collection of significant evidence linking Cruz to the attempted rape reported earlier. Cruz was arrested for violations for Penal Code Section 220(a)(1) – Assault with Intent to Commit Rape and Penal Code Section 368(b)(1) – Elder Abuse. Cruz was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura and is being held on $200,000 bail. |
