On March 16, 2022, the Cloquet Police Department was notified of a possible threat to the Cloquet Middle School.
Two staff members reported receiving e-mails indicating that the school was targeted for a possible school shooting the following day.
Based on the information known at the time, CPD immediately began investigating and attempting to locate the source of threat. At the time of this press release, multiple people have been interviewed, but no arrests have been made.
On March 17, 2022, members of the Cloquet Police Department, assisted by the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, had an increased presence at all Cloquet Schools as a precautionary measure.
The Cloquet Police Department is working with school officials and communications providers to determine who is responsible for sending the e-mails. This is an active investigation.
