Narrative: | |||||
On March 9, 2022, Sheriff’s Gang Unit (SGU) detectives conducted a parole search, which resulted in multiple subjects being arrested and the recovery of multiple firearms in Camarillo and Oxnard. On March 9, 2022, at approximately 1118 hours, SGU detectives stopped a vehicle that was occupied by Jose Guerrero in a motel parking lot in the 1600 block of Camarillo. Guerrero is on active parole with search terms, for PC 192(a) – Voluntary Manslaughter. Janet Avalos, Daniel Duarte, and Justin Holbrook were also in the vehicle with Guerrero. Detectives searched the vehicle, pursuant to Guerrero’s parole search terms, and located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Additionally, detectives determined Guerrero stored property in a storage unit in the 2100 block of Auto Center Drive in Oxnard that was associated to Avalos. A search of the storage unit resulted in the recovery of a 7.62 caliber assault rifle and ammunition. Detectives arrested Guerrero for a parole violation and Duarte for outstanding local misdemeanor warrants. They were booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura. Detectives cited and released Holbrook for misdemeanor narcotics violations. Detectives continued the investigation regarding the assault rifle and determined Avalos conspired with Guerrero to store it. On 3-17-2022, detectives arrested Avalos in Oxnard for PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy To Commit a Crime. She was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura. Additional felony firearm and ammunition violation charges are pending for Guerrero.
