The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the report of an attempted kidnapping that occurred on March 4, 2022, at approximately 8:15 PM, a twelve-year-old female was approached by two unknown male subjects in a vehicle near the area of Bristol Road and Foothill Road in the city of Ojai. During the incident, an unknown male passenger attempted to grab the juvenile by her backpack and attempted to pull her towards the vehicle. The juvenile female fought back and fled the area. Once at a safe location, the juvenile contacted her mother and family friend about the incident. The victim was immediately taken to the Ojai Police Department to report the incident. The suspect vehicle was described as a white 4 door sedan. The vehicle had scratches on the front bumper near the passenger side headlight. The vehicle had a sticker in the lower right-hand corner of the rear window, possibly an American flag. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his mid to late 20’s with dark colored spikey hair, sideburns, a mole on the right side of his face, scar on the left side of his neck, approximately 5’5” to 5’8” tall and medium build. The suspect was wearing a “dirty” white long-sleeved shirt and jeans with red and blue paint on them. The driver was only described as a male subject. Detectives worked with the child to create the attached composite sketch of the suspect. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Meagan Yates of the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit at (805) 384-4731.
