On March 2, 2022, four suspects conspired to commit a residential burglary of an occupied residence in the 800 block of Corte La Cienega in the city of Camarillo, two of whom were arrested shortly after a prolonged pursuit. On March 9, 2022, deputies with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) and Moorpark Investigations Unit arrested the two outstanding suspects in the 1800 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard in Los Angeles. On March 2, 2022, deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 800 block of Corte La Cienega. Deputies observed a vehicle leaving the area and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. After a lengthy vehicle pursuit from Camarillo to Van Nuys, deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office worked together with officers from the Los Angeles Police Department to arrest two of the suspects in the area of the 15000 block of Victory Boulevard. Deputies determined two additional suspects fled from the termination point of the pursuit and were able to elude capture. Deputies with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) conducted a follow up investigation and were able to determine the outstanding suspects were staying in a hotel in the 1800 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard in Los Angeles. On March 9, 2022, SEU deputies and deputies from the Moorpark Investigations Unit contacted the suspects as they exited their hotel room and arrested them for their involvement in the crime. The suspects were identified as (S) Byron Manuel Moris Perez and a fourteen-year-old juvenile. Moris Perez and the juvenile were both determined to be Chilean Nationals. After the arrest, deputies obtained a search warrant to search the suspects’ hotel room. Deputies seized evidence linking the suspects to the crimes, a large sum of U.S. currency, and jewelry suspected to have been stolen from unknown victims of residential burglaries. SEU deputies will work with local law enforcement agencies to attempt to identify the owners of the recovered jewelry. Moris Perez was arrested for conspiracy to commit residential burglary, evading an officer with willful disregard, possession of fraudulent government documents and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. Moris Perez was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the violations and his bail was set at $250,000. The juvenile was arrested for conspiracy to commit residential burglary and possession of fraudulent government documents. The juvenile was lodged at the Ventura County Juvenile Facilities. |
