Narrative:
During the month of July 2021, Ojai Patrol Deputies took a report regarding a juvenile female that was being sent harmful matter by a suspected adult male over a social media application. Through further investigation, detectives identified (A) Seth Burdelas as a suspect in their investigation.

On February 9, 2022, detectives with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, Sheriff’s Gang Unit, and the Southern California High Tech Task Force served a search warrant at two residences associated to Burdelas in the cities of Murrieta and Wildomar. Burdelas was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on the following charges: PC 288.2(a) – Sending Harmful Matter, and PC 311.11(a) - Possession of Child Pornography.

During a forensic examination of evidence seized during the execution of the search warrant, detectives discovered further evidence linking Burdelas to the crime and further evidence of child pornography.

On February 14, 2022, Burdelas was arraigned on the charges and his bail was set at $50,000. Burdelas has since posted bail and is out of custody.

Supervised by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, the High Tech Task Force is made up of investigators from the District Attorney’s Office, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, and civilian computer forensic examiners. The unit provides highly technical computer forensic support for law enforcement agencies which includes assisting in preserving electronic evidence in the field and performing forensic examinations of digital evidence in a lab environment.

This investigation is currently ongoing. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office believes there could be additional victims. If you have any information regarding Seth Burdelas or this case, please contact Detective Corey Stump of the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit at 805-384-4745.
