Super Bowl Sunday DUI Enforcement

Nature of Incident: Super Bowl Sunday DUI Enforcement
Location: Moorpark and Ventura County
Date & Time: February 13, 2022
Unit(s) Responsible: Moorpark Traffic Bureau
Narrative:

Enjoy the Super Bowl Responsibly, Don’t Drive Impaired!

The Moorpark Police Department and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office are reminding you to enjoy the Super Bowl responsibly and not drive impaired.

This year is the 56th edition of the National Football League’s Super Bowl on February 13, 2022.  On this day, the Moorpark Police Department will have additional officers deployed for the purposes of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) enforcement.  On average, more than 1,000 Californians die every year as a result of a DUI related collision, which is nearly 10% of DUI related fatalities nationwide.  According to information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there was a nearly 15% increase in DUI related fatalities in 2021.  DUI is more than just alcohol.  Marijuana, prescription medication and illicit drugs also impair your ability to operate a motor vehicle.

As we celebrate champions on Super Bowl Sunday, remember to be a champion for your family and friends and Don’t Drive Impaired.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
