Narcotics Investigation Leads to Arrest

    On Monday, January 31st, 2022, at approximately 2:55 PM, members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 3200 Block of New Jersey Avenue, located in the City of Wildwood.   The stop was initiated in connection to an active covert narcotics investigation.  At the time of the motor vehicle stop, the driver was identified as Reginald Pitts, a 52-year-old unemployed laborer, currently residing in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. 
     During the course of the investigation, the Wildwood Police Department K-9 Unit was summoned and a K-9 sniff of the vehicle was conducted for the presence of contraband, specifically narcotics.   As a result of the K-9 sniff, a positive reaction was detected by the police K-9 “Woody”.  As a result of the ensuing search of Pitt’s motor vehicle, distribution quantity of cocaine was seized.  In addition, heroin, marijuana, amphetamine / dextroamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia was also recovered.    
     As a result of the investigation, Reginal Pitts  was charged with the following criminal charges; possession of cocaine (a crime of the third degree), possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute (a crime of the second degree), possession of  cocaine with the intent to distribute within 1000’ of school property (a crime of the third degree), possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500’ of certain public property (a crime of the second degree), possession of heroin (a crime of the third degree), possession of amphetamine / dextroamphetamine a schedule II narcotic (a crime of the third degree), possession of narcotics paraphernalia (a disorderly person’s offense).
     At the conclusion of the investigation, Reginald Pitts criminal charges were issued on criminal warrant complaints and he was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center.  This was in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines, promulgated in connection with the Criminal Justice Reform Policies and Directives.
