*UPD*LASD Homicide Detectives Assisted South Gate PD with a Shooting Death Investigation, 4000 block of Tweedy Blvd, SG
Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are assisting the South Gate Police Department with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting outside a bar that left two Hispanic men dead and a third injured.
South Gate Police Officers responded to the 4000 block of Tweedy Boulevard regarding a call of gunshots fired that occurred on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at approximately 3:21 AM. When officers arrived, they saw a male victim was unresponsive in the parking lot of the Weaver Library. That victim appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers were directed to a bar nearby on Tweedy Boulevard. Officers entered the bar and found two additional victims inside suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the two men was pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim, a 41-year-old male Hispanic, was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators learned some type of altercation occurred in the rear parking lot of the bar that resulted in gunfire.
The names or ages of the two deceased men are unknown, and there is no suspect or suspect vehicle description at this time.
It is unknown if this shooting is gang-related.
