Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing to assisting Huntington Park Police Department with an officer involved shooting investigation. The incident occurred Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at approximately 12:03 a.m., on the 6400 block of Santa Fe Avenue in Huntington Park.
Investigators have learned, Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) was called and dispatched to a fire at approximately 11:45 p.m., on the 6500 block of Marbrisa Avenue. When they arrived, they were confronted by a male adult who stated he had a weapon on him, possibly a handgun. LACoFD called Huntington Park Police to assist. They arrived and the same man brandished a knife at them, continually paced back and forth at/near the driveway of the location. Several commands were given and ignored, to drop the knife. Less lethal was deployed with little to no effect on the man.
The suspect then ran northbound away from the location to Gage Avenue, then Santa Fe Avenue. The officers again engaged him, gave commands to drop the knife, deployed less lethal with little to no effect. He then went southbound Gage Avenue where they engaged him for a third time. Again commands and less lethal were given/deployed to no avail. The suspect advanced toward an officer and an officer involved shooting occurred.
The suspect, male Hispanic possibly in his 30’s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His knife was recovered.
A fire was not located where LACoFD was dispatched to.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured.
