On Sunday, January 16th, 2022, at approximately 12:45 A.M., the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division responded to the 300 West Block of Cresse Avenue, located in the City of Wildwood, in reference to two separate motor vehicle burglaries, which had recently occurred. The response was a direct result of the owner of a nearby property, observing suspicious activity on his exterior surveillance camera system. The property owner also provided a physical and clothing description of the individual responsible for the unlawful entry into the motor vehicles.
During the active follow-up investigation, by members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, additional information was developed identifying the individual responsible for the motor vehicle burglaries. This individual was identified as Keith Press, 19-year-old White Male, currently residing in the City of Wildwood.
As the investigation continued, Press was located at his residence which is located in close proximity to the burglaries and interviewed in connection to the illegal activity. During the interaction with Press, an authorized search of his residence resulted in the recovery of property identified as having a nexus to the motor vehicle burglaries. Accordingly, Press was arrested for his unlawful actions.
As a result of the totality of the circumstances surrounding the aforementioned actions specific to the motor vehicle burglaries, Press was charged with two counts of burglary (crimes of the third degree), and two counts of theft of movable property (crimes of the fourth degree). Accordingly, Press was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center, in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines, promulgated in connection with the Criminal Justice Bail Reform Policies and Directives.
