On December 14, 2021, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) concluded an investigation into Jeremy Kerr, who was wanted in connection with his sale of narcotics to a Camarillo resident which resulted in their death. On November 11, 2021 Camarillo Patrol deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Lantana Street in the City of Camarillo reference a subject who was deceased as the result of a drug overdose. PCU detectives took over the investigation and identified Kerr as the suspect who sold the narcotics to the victim that caused the fatal overdose. PCU detectives, with the assistance of Camarillo Police SED Detectives, located Kerr in the City of Camarillo and arrested him for his involvement in the overdose death. Detectives served a search warrant at Kerr’s residence in the 600 block of Lantana Street and seized fentanyl, methamphetamine and a collapsible baton. Kerr was booked into the Ventura County Jail for 11350 HS- Possession of a Controlled Substance; 11352 HS- Sales / Furnishing of a Controlled Substance; 11377 HS- Possession of a Dangerous Drug and 22210 PC- Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. Kerr scheduled for arraignment on December 29, 2021 in Ventura County Superior Court. He was released from custody after posting $100,000 bail. The Ventura County Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is a task force made up of members from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Thousand Oaks Police Department; The primary mission of the task force is combatting the transfer of legal prescription medication and fentanyl to the illegal market. In addition, the task force works to identify and stop new trends of abuse among the younger population and investigates overdoses due to both prescription medication and illicit drug use. |
